Microneedling
Jump To
There are many different skin problems that may arise as you go about your daily life. From pigmentation issues to acne, these problems can become quite embarrassing. At Gardner Facial Plastic Surgery, we offer innovative skincare treatments like microneedling to help patients in the ST, George, UT area reclaim their beautiful skin.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling has been proven to help skin’s overall texture and stimulate collagen production. The needles range from 0.5-2.5m and vibrate in and out of the skin causing tiny wounds that breach the stratum corneum to the deeper dermis, triggering the skin to repair itself without causing scar tissue formation. The tiny, controlled injuries caused by microneedling help promote collagen production, which helps the skin look tighter and thicker as we age.
Microneedling is an amazing treatment we recommend to almost everyone. At Radiance Medical Spa, we use the Bellus Medical FDA-cleared SkinPen Precision for your microneedling treatments. The updated SkinPen Precision is the first and only microneedling device in the industry to receive this important designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and sets a new standard as the only recognized Class II microneedling device available.
What are the Benefits of Microneedling?
Microneedling is used to treat tone/texture, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, trauma scars, stretch marks, and large pores. It can help address mild to moderate skin blemishes and rejuvenate the look and feel of the skin without invasive surgery.
How is Microneedling Done?
Prior to your treatment, your Master Aesthetician will discuss a treatment plan with you incorporating your individual goals, discuss pre and post-care, and answer any questions you may have. Maintenance of your procedure might require multiple treatments.
After analyzing your skin under a magnifying lamp, your Aesthetician will start the treatment by cleansing and degreasing your skin. Your Licensed Master Aesthetician will apply a topical numbing cream, which will be left on the treatment area for about 20 minutes. Afterward, the numbing cream will be removed and a Hyaluronic acid will be applied to work as a “glide” for the treatment. Once you reach your clinical endpoint, your licensed Aesthetician will apply Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar with Trihex Technology to help support your skin and enhance your overall results.
What Happens After a Microneedling treatment?
The skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn for up to 5 days. Additionally, the most common treatment responses experienced are dryness, rough skin, tightness, redness, itching, peeling, discomfort, tenderness, and burning. These conditions resolve over time without any further complications.
You will be given a sample of Alastin Skin Nectar that will be used twice a day for 3 days to help reduce downtime. We ask that you avoid direct sun exposure for two weeks post-procedure. We also ask that you avoid sweating, exercising, and heat for 3 days post-procedure.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
We recommend 3-6 treatments 4 weeks apart depending on your skin concerns. Your Licensed Master Aesthetician will discuss this further with you.
How to Prepare for This Treatment?
Avoid sun exposure for 3 days prior to your treatment. Avoid Retin-A products for 3 days prior to your treatment.
